My Yes to God’s Yes

Psalm 59

[10] My God in His lovingkindness will meet me;
my God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.

{God will reveal to me His saving presence. This I recognize as His eternal “Yes” in the midst of my concrete adversity. “As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we preached among you, Silva’nus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No; but in him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why we utter the Amen through him, to the glory of God.” (2 Co. 18-20)}

[16] But as for me, I shall sing of thy strength;

{God’s “Yes” to me in Christ Jesus is an invitation for me to co-operate with Him in accomplishing His redeeming work in my adversity here are now. No hollow promises in the “by and by”. I will say my essential “Yes” to God’s “Yes”. “For

Your salvation I wait, O LORD.” (Genesis 49.18) My “Yes” and the practical form it takes is a song overflowing with gratitude. It is the sacrifice of thankful surrender and active obedience. }

Yes, I shall joyfully sing aloud of thy lovingkndness in the morning.
For thou hast been my stronghold,
and a refuge in the day of my distress.
[17] O my Strength, I will sing praises to Thee,
for God is my stronghold,
the God who shows me lovingkindness.

In the face of God’s “Yes”, how could we say anything but “Yes”? I exhort you in all love: Say your “Yes” to God’s “Yes”. “Stand by and see [an active not passive standing and seeing] the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today.” (Exodus 14.13)]
